Children’s Action Committee’s Mission: “To engage our community to prevent child abuse and neglect and to ensure our children are safe and healthy in mind, body, and spirit.”
Nationally, over 2 million reports of abuse or neglect are made each year, and 1,500 children die from their injuries. Every day, across the country, the very people children rely on for protection and comfort subject them to abuse or neglect.
Children in our own community face these same risks. In 2009 in Mendocino County there were 1,700 children alleged to have been abused and 498 children substantiated as abused or neglected.
There are many things you can do to help prevent child abuse in your community.
